Non-Communicable Diseases

Research program focusing on non-communicable diseases.

NCD uses non-human primate models to improve understanding of the biological mechanisms, progression, prevention and management of non-communicable diseases and to support the development and evaluation of innovative health interventions.

We conduct research in major disease areas affecting the nervous, cardiovascular, respiratory and metabolic systems, as well as cancer and genetically associated diseases. The use of relevant non-human primate models provides an important platform for translational research, enabling scientific discoveries to be evaluated in biologically relevant systems.

Through integrated biomedical and translational research, the Division contributes to the understanding of disease mechanisms and the development and evaluation of potential interventions, therapies and health technologies.
