The Division promotes recognized animal welfare principles, ethical research practices, staff capacity building and continuous improvement in the care and use of research animals. It supports researchers and institutions in implementing appropriate standards for animal welfare and ethical conduct throughout the research lifecycle.
The Division also contributes to strengthening national capacity and awareness in responsible animal use, welfare standards and ethical research, promoting a culture of scientific responsibility, compassion and accountability.
