Dr. Mercy Akinyi

Dr. Mercy Akinyi holds a Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine, an MSc in Medical Physiology from the University of Nairobi, & a PhD in Biology from Duke University, USA (2017). She is the Acting Director of the Animal Welfare and Ethics Directorate at the Kenya Institute of Primate Research since January 2026. With 19 years of clinical and field experience, she provides leadership in animal welfare and ethical oversight, ensuring compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards.
